Tuesday — Frustration, Tiredness, Sadness
Frustration, Tiredness, Sadness. Those are the words that come to mind when I reflect on Monday. Being at Conference can be grueling, but it also demonstrates that the process works.
What Day Is It Again?
I’ve been so busy at the Conference, that I’m beginning to lose track of the days. Today is going to be another busy day, but that doesn’t mean there aren’t moments of serenity, like a beautiful sunrise — or moments of joy, like sharing ice cream with my fellow Delegates.
Sunday — Conference Officially Opens
It’s Sunday and I’m already feeling the pressure of being on time to the opening session, but I wanted to get my latest post to you. There’s an excitement in the air here as we get ready to do the business of Al-Anon and I’m honored to be a part of it. Thanks to all of you for your support.
Saturday — First Day of the Conference
It’s Saturday, the first day of the conference. I’m all set for the day and for the conference. Yesterday, I even had a chance to stick my toes in the water.
Al-A-Gram? What’s That?
Welcome to the new Al-A-Gram! For those of you familiar with the World Service Office’s “In the Loop,” Al-A-Gram has become Pennsylvania’s version of that. A subscription to “In the Loop” provides you with regular news updates from the WSO regarding items of national and global interest, while an Al-A-Gram subscription will provide you news and stories from around Pennsylvania and of more local interest.
Getting Ready for the 59th World Service Conference
In a few days, I’ll be leaving for Virginia Beach, where I’m honored to represent our Area at the 59th World Service Conference, serving as Pennsylvania’s Delegate. I’ve been a bit overwhelmed these past few weeks as I prepared my inch-thick binder with all the materials I’ll need, but I am excited, too — anxious to meet the friends I made last year and inspired to be serving the fellowship of Al-Anon.
Our Road Trip to the WSO Changed Me
After the Al-Anon International Convention last July, I didn’t want the road trips to end. So next on our list was a visit to WSO in Virginia Beach with a couple of good friends!
2018 World Service Conference (WSC)
Al-Anon – There is no standing still! The 2018 World Service Conference (WSC) was held April 16-20, 2018 in West Harrison, New York. The week was long, with 12-13 hour days, but the work done was worth the time invested. It’s difficult to explain what I personally experienced at the conference, but I can say that I have a lot of new friends and to witness our program in this setting was incredible. I wish everyone could have the opportunity to experience just a few hours of the WSC. I am truly honored to be able to represent Pennsylvania at this level.
2018 World Service Conference (WSC) — Chosen Agenda Items
In January, I and the rest of the incoming Delegates were invited to submit topics of discussion for the Conference, which are called Chosen Agenda Items (CAIs). 36 CAIs were submitted, and after combining like items, a condensed list of 16 CAIs was submitted to the Conference for voting. The top two CAIs were discussed in the General Session, and the next three CAIs were discussed in breakout sessions at the Conference.
